Project Implementation

BMW IT Project Management processes have been established by the internal DMS. An international team was designed to obtain maximum uniformity across DMS implementations for all BMW DMS providers.

Project Management processes for IMS are followed and have similarly been approved by BMW standards.
Owing to this fact there are no process differences in implementation of standard incadea and IMS. What differs along the implementation process, however is the duration of the implementation. IMS has been estimated to have an implementation time line of 3 to 5 months on an average which is 6 months less than a standard incadea implementation.
While an implementation of standard incadea often includes individual customizations and extensive requirement analysis workshops, IMS has a compact approach towards this process-driven implementation. The requirement analysis, requirement definition and system design phase are eliminated as a standard system is used covering all standard requirements.

Roll-out is based on several phases. Standard migration tools provide optional import of data from the legacy system. Data covered by the migration includes customer, vendor, vehicle, parts and stock data. In parallel, training is given to the staff. An interface is setup between the local accounting system and the international accounting system in IMS. After these phases, the dealer can start with IMS.
